A Guide to Sinulog 2010

January 15th, 2010

This is a general guide to what to wear in Sinulog, what to bring in Sinulog, what to do in Sinulog and where to go in Sinulog.

What to Wear in Sinulog

This is for general information and based on what I experienced the past two Sinulogs.

  1. SHIRT – if you’re a photographer then you’ll need the official Photographer’s shirt otherwise any comfortable shirt will do. Just remember, black absorbs heat of the sun, white reflects it but is bound to get dirty.
  2. SHORTS – Yep, you’ll need to get pass the crowds and wearing pants will cause you to get them easily dirty as the streets will be as expected: messy. There will be times when you need to bend down, and I do mean BEND DOWN so shorts come in handy here.
  3. SHOES not Slippers – I mentioned in my post last year that there will be an expected foot stomp buffet. Wear shoes, but looks like this year’s craze is all about the crocs. Even I’m gonna wear crocs. It’s got the freedom of the slippers, but the security of the shoes.
  4. HAT or CAP – I will assume that it’s going to be hot so I suggest bring a cap to ensure protection from the sun. It’s done me good for the past two years.
  5. SCARF – this protects your neck from the heat of the sun and can also protect your face at times. It’s gonna be dusty out there.

What to Bring

  1. Camera – capture the moment!
  2. Water – don’t dry yourself out
  3. Extra shirt -it’s gonna get hot
  4. Money – around 500php is okay
  5. Cellphone -easy contact
  6. Map – if you don’t know Cebu enough
  7. Schedule of activities – to guide you with the event
  8. Tissue – in case of emergency number 2
  9. Towel – to wipe of that sweat
  10. portable chair – if you’re gonna be sitting on the sides
  11. Umbrella -just in case it rains
  12. Bag – to store away all your stuff
  13. Sunblock – unless you prefer Glutathione

What time do I have to be in the City?

As early as 6 am to 7 am will be most efficient so you can get to your desired position in the vicinity.

Note:

-Sometimes you are allowed to cross from one side of the street to another. Learn to say excuse me and don’t push.

-You need a photographer’s pass and official shirt which costs around 650 php to get in the street parade. It’s sold out
