Canon 7D, You shall be mine

Canon 7D

And Canon 7D was her name..

For already four years I have been using my beloved Canon EOS 400D. I remember the day when my parents bought it for me. I was still in my fourth year of highschool and DSLRs were not very common in school. It was my birthday that day and my mom and I were walking around Ayala to check around for cameras. I have always wanted a nice camera with a proper optical zoom and adjustable settings instead of the usual point and shoot.

I was around Colours checking out some ZSLRs of Olympus which were priced at 24K php. Suddenly mom’s friend, Tito Ronnie Medalle came by and they started talking. To this day I will forever thank tito ronnie for telling my mom “that’s a really good camera for your son”. This was when he was pointing at the nicely displayed Canon 400D still fresh in the market. That had to be the BEST birthday in the duration of my now 19 years of life.

I forever will also love my mom for attending the Canon’s seminar just so that I can get the free extra battery (which I should say has been one of the most useful accessories that came with the camera). And the rest was history with this baby.

Now (which is 4 years later) after 3 sinulogs, 7 countries, hundreds of event, thousands of camwhores, two publications, and minus one focal glass, I fear that my baby is nearing it’s end (in terms of shutter life).

So now I call upon the gods of Photography to please grant your humble subject one BIG BIG BIG wish. Please give me the uber powerful Canon 7D! OH PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! …. Amen.

Why the Canon 7D?

For a long time I’ve always considered the Nikon cameras (the lower models) to be of a more superior auto focus system. But now after seeing the Canon 7D with a double digic processor and the cross sensor type (I’m ranting as if I totally understand these) What I do understand is that these mean you’ve got one fast shooter baby!

Here are the things to drool about the Canon 7D:

  • 18.0 mp
  • HD video
  • 8fps
  • 19 AF points with cross sensor (again that term)
  • 150,00o cycles

I can just imagine the feel of this majestic camera in my hands… Oh I am in love. Here’s a sample video to show you how powerful this baby is.

This film was result of the efforts of :

Bob Nicolas
Bong Sare
Cj Lagman
Ian Cruz
Marvi de Guzman
Jason Magbanua

Great job! I really felt the essence of the film. :)

  6. jimrey says:

Do all Canon DSLRs have about the same image quailty? Or do some have much better quality using the same lenses? And what about the 50D and 7D?

  7. The Photoblogger says:

Canon DSLRs have quite similar image quality depending on the condition of the lighting. But if you talk about differences then there’s a considerable difference in ISO, fps and other factors in the camera.
