Kai Villanueva Comes to Cebu

June 25th, 2010

Kai, Rab and other Dumaguete Friends

This is post is actually looooong overdue but a promise is a promise.

Many months ago (I told you its overdue) an online friend from Dumaguete came to Cebu. Her name is Kai. (and so there’s now Kai Cebu, and Kai Dumaguete). Kai blogs at http://thekaicomplex.blogspot.com. I was really touched when she actually bought me Sylvannas from Dumaguete. Yum yum!

All smiles during our Casa Verde feast :D

She then invited us for lunch in Casa Verde Ramos.  The food was delicious and I can’t stop thanking Kai for the treat :D

The Boys are also all smiles from the overloaded feast :D

It’s just a pity though that she wasn’t able to go to Cebu Blog Camp :( But hopefully we will cross paths again soon in the Iloilo bloggers summit :D

Huge Feast in Casa Verde

I haz Google PIN !!!!

March 15th, 2010

After a year of waiting I now have a Google PIN!!!!!

I actually received this Last Friday March 5, 2010. It’s about 3 months since I re-requested it from Google since the first PIN did not arrive.

This means only one thing, I am officially eligible to receive MONEY!!!!

All I need to do is wait till the end of march so that I can receive my payment. Whew! All that hard work is finally materializing into something.

For those who feel hopeless about your PIN, here are the steps to follow.

1.You must know that you are eligible to receive PIN (check the terms and thingies in Google adsense)

2.You must have the right addressed placed in your account

3.Request once and wait for 4 months, then if no PIN yet request again.

4.If all else fails you can go through the process of Google Help where they will ask for a valid government ID which has your home address then they will activate your account.

Good luck to all adsense earning people out there.

Photoblogger’s Planner: Schutzen Planner

March 3rd, 2010

Schutzen Planner

Schutzen is the name that marks my planner’s anterior covering.

This was actually a gift from my bestfriend and me being a person who is obsessed with preserving prized possesions went paranoid on how best to use it. I even went to the point of thinking of practicing my writing again so that my handwriting could improve before I write on this expensive piece of notebook.

After several arguments with myself on how best to use the Schutzen Planner (one of them involved putting it in a glass casing and just staring at its expensive leather glory) I finally came up with an ingenious idea.

Nice ridges on the surface of the Black Schutzen Planner

I’ll just use it.

I realized if I keep staring at it forever then I guess the pages will probably turn to dust before I can even use it. I also came up with the idea to use a pencil instead of a pen because being the messy person that I am I tend to make so many erasures that you could swear that’s where 80% of my pen ink goes to.

I cut off some colored ribbons to mark different segments of the planner. The planner had 8 important parts.

1.Profile information – like those page profiles you see in facebook
2.Calendar for year 2010,2011,2012 and 2013 – this thing was obviously ready for me just in case I had no plans of using it.
3.Monthly Planner
4.Weekly planner
5.Daily Planner – seriously this thing wants me to plan my entire life in paper
6.Projects and Goals – where I can write down my BIG projects
7.Notes – well, yeah, for notes
8.Contacts – to keep people I’m most likely to forget

Opening a page in the Black Schutzen Planner

Setting up this planner has become a step back in technology for me. I’ve been using my Palm T|X for the past 5 years as my organizer then evolved to the Eee PC. So what exactly happened? I realized that tactile touch is always better. For some reason there seems to be a greater push of motivation whenever I write in notebooks, planners, or even post its. I do hope that I’ll actually finish whatever I have written in this really expensive planner.

Thankfully the price of the planner won’t go to waste as I can actually buy a refill and still use this awesome cover.

How to use the Planner

This planner actually has 3 important segments which are rather redundant if you ask me. However, after careful studying of my activities I realized they actually are quite important.

For the monthly planner I use it to mark important days or events. For the weekly planner I use it to mark deadlines and meetings For the daily planner I schedule the things I need to do in a day. All in all it is a very helpful tool. So here’s to the first few days in using my Schutzen Planner.

Sinulog Gear

February 7th, 2010

It’s now almost two months since the time I joined Sinulog 2010. Having enjoyed my brief moment of taking photography to a higher level I suddenly did not have time to do anymore shoots and stuff like that.

Even after Sinulog 2010 Photo contest I still felt the hunger for a little photowalk. I don’t usually post photos of myself (or do I now?) but here’s a little treat (or trick) for your eyes.

当你孤单你会想起谁

January 30th, 2010

Who will you think of when you are lonely?

This happens to be one of my favorite Chinese songs. The lyrics make me reflect about the people I truly care about.

Being human as we are we tend to long for companionship. Who do we really love most? When we become lonely, who do we think of?  The lyrics down there expresses the meaning of the song. Of course if you can’t understand them I provided the english translation below the chinese lyrics.

Your mood is always flying,
wanting to chase everything
wanting to capture some comfort.
You always like to linger in a crowd
You are most afraid of the taste of loneliness.

Your heart is so brittle,
once touched, it will shatter.
It can’t even make it through a light wind.
You always want to be with a lot of people by your side.
You are most afraid of every day’s nightfall.

But the sky will always darken
People inevitably have to leave
No one can accompany someone else forever

Everyone has to face
the feeling of loneliness
You and I are not the only ones who feel exhaustion.

Who will you think of when you are lonely
do you want to find someone to accompany you
as long as I can experience your happiness and sorrow
let me accompany you for while.

Once upon a Time in Cebu: Touring Cebu

January 28th, 2010

Candidates, I mean Characters of "Once upon a time in Cebu"

Let me tell you a story, and let’s begin with a “and they left Cebu happily ever after.” So who are they? What happened in Cebu? Why were they happy? Well to tell you that story, contrary to the traditional story which starts with “It all began when…” or “Once upon a time…” This story I shall share will begin with how it all ended.

Once upon an ending three manila based bloggers by the name of Mica, Bong and Winston are off to Manila. But before they flew back to Manila a series of events happened which made a certain Photoblogger appreciate the beauty of Cebu.

Before ending the trip, the trio along with Sinjin, Doyzkie and The Photoblogger decided to go check the popular places in Mactan. It was fine Sunday afternoon when the sun was already about to set. Since the story is in reverse we’ll start with how we were already leaving the Mactan and were in Doyzkie’s car taking shots from his sky window.

A shot of the bridge road

They were in fact coming from a beautiful place as depicted by the picture below. The Marcelo Fernan Bridge actually has a pretty park underneath it. Doyzkie decided to take the gang there. Then the camwhoring happened

The beautiful park underneath the bridge

It was just around this time of the day where the waves playfully crash against the rocks along the shores of the park.

Crashing waves against the rocks under the bridge

The group also chanced upon some  of the young locals jumping in the water.

Taking the leap

Did I mention that these people are camwhores? Oh yes they are worst imaginable camwhores possible. They feast on the delicious feeling of the camera flashing away their bodies. They shift their position this way and that. They don’t fear for the life of the poor camera which is slowly dying away till its last actuation. Want proof? Look below.

Bong wanted the same shot like winston's

As camwhoring is very dangerous for a normal person’s eyes so you may relax your eyes of the beautiful place before you continue damaging your eyes with the next photos.

Okay I do hope you are ready for this. I will warn you that this will be unhealthy for your eyes.

And that’s what happened underneath the bridge. Ever wondered why simple place visits turn into hour long visits? You just got a quick look of what happens.

Another shot of the majestic bridge

My first shot ever of Mactan's Marcello Fernan Bridge

Prior to the visit under the Bridge the gang decided to go to Mactan Shrine where more camwhoring actually happened. As to how the camera survived scientists and historians are still baffled by such endurance.

So the story continues to move backward as we now see our adventurers the day before in the cold mountains of Busay. Ah yes, such a wonderful place to be in. Getting a good look of the city and yes, more camwhoring took place.

A crude shot of the City lights view

Of course with a mixture of wrong settings and a totally wrong white balance you can come up with a really “right” picture. Blue Doyzkie FTW!

The tourists are now composed of Atty. Ouano, Bryan, Brian, Mica, Winston, Doyzkie (special thanks to him for bringing the gang around) and a certain anonymous character.

Mica also wanting to take flight

Bong thinks he can fly

While in Waterfront Lahug Bong and Mica decided they could fly. They did try but to their great dismay, the realized they were heavy to do so. Lesson learned is that only nuns can fly because they have habits which look like wings. Besides they look aerodynamic.

I tried to shoot the ballroom when these two jumped in

Then you also have those totally random objects not related to the story but you just can’t help it when they’re too cute to ignore

Too cute to be ignored

The following pictures that will follow will hopefully narrate the tragedy that occurred in Waterfront Cebu. The pictures are too sad too see so just scroll down a little bit fast..

It's like a cross between "Katorse" and "May Bukas Pa", though I remember Santino not to be a huge person

TOO LATE, YOU SCROLLED TOO SLOWLY, now you have to endure the pictures

The gang actually ate in Oh George resto where Doy doy suggested. So armed with lotsa cash they dipped in this seemingly Chinese restaurant. (Chinese because you can see lots of them typical chinese families there)

Doy doy shelling out our money

Pork belly

A personal fave: Chicken Pot pie

Jambalaya, sausage rice which everyone enjoyed

Pesto and fish

Pork with garlic and herbs butter spread, mmmm.

Some peanut soup (I never touced it, I don't like peanut and soup together)

Mica taking a shot of the meal before devouring

Bryan no longer listening to the conversation

California Salad (I loved the combination of crab meat and mango)

Quesedillas for appetizers

Now we come to the end of the story which in fact is where the story actually started. You can see the gang doing whatever it is they do when they stay in Starbucks while trying to contribute to the lack of space in Ayala Terraces during a very very crowded weekend. Great job guys!

Atty. unaware of the happenings behind him

Bong indulging in intelligent convesation with fellow Youth-for-Chiz members

Enough said

And there you have it folks. The end of our story where it actually started. I do hope you enjoyed this little picture-story like a kindergarten student. (Don’t we just love those books with less words and more colorful pictures?)

Below are the pictures of the cast for this post’s story.

*I wrote the story in reverse because when I insert all images they were Chronologically reversed, so me being already frustrated and lazy decided to go with the flow.
