Massive School Structure

A few months ago I had the privilege to be invited by the Governess of the Biology department of the Cebu Normal University to witness their induction of new officers in their Butterfly Sanctuary in Talisay.

When I first entered Cebu Normal University Campus I was amazed by the massive structures that surrounded the school parking lot. It really is a sight to behold and if you are into Spanish Architecture you will really appreciate the building design as they retained details of the Spanish Era.

I was toured by the Governess herself: Ms. Jen, around their beautiful campus and I still couldn’t help but stare at the beautiful campus. Truly this is one awesome University.

CNU Fun Facts:

  • The school was once used as a headquarters by the Japanese army. (it is even said that if you stare at the windows and hallways there is bound to be an oddly dressed figure walking around or staring back at you!)
  • They used some of the rooms as their Torture Chambers and Prison cells (I think several years of education can still be tantamount to their function many years ago :P *joke*)
  • It was only around June 27, 1998 when it achieved its university status.
  • The school is right along Jones Ave. so it is pretty much accessible via Public Transportation
  • They have two other Campuses in Balamban and Medellin

Personal Impressions

If your aiming for a Nursing education then CNU is one of the best universities in Cebu for Nursing (along with Cebu Velez College *ahem*) I have friends who have graduated from that school and have superb background knowledge on Nursing.

They also have a wonderful Biology Department. Along with their Butterfly Park in Talisay they are also known to have volunteer Programs with Crocolandia in Talisay. So if you’re up for some environmental coolness then this University has got it!

I have to thank again the girl in the picture above for including me in their very important turnover and induction of officers. Truly a wonderful event and a memorable one too.

Oh and I’m proud to say that me along with Pet, a fellow CABS officer, got to be one of the first to ride on CNU’s Bright red school bus :D
