The Digital Filipino Web Awards 2009
And in the depths of our hearts, we know that our fellow Filipinos will make us proud in the land of the Pearl of the Orient. We shall conquer our fears, our weaknesses. We shall cover land and sea and claim victory. And in the Age of Technology and Information, the Filipino will not hesitate to show what Pinoys are truly made of.
This year 2009, The Photoblogger would like to invite everyone to participate in the Digital Filipino Web Awards!
Janette Toral is a Filipino Blogger, mother, and founder of one of the most influential groups in the Philippine Online community. She founded the Digital Filipino Club which focuses on the various potentials of internet marketing and networking.
One of the major events that is coming soon is the DigitalFilipino E-commerce Summit. This HUGE summit is filled with speakers to give some really great tips that can push you forward in what ever you are doing with your blogging life right now. Internet Marketing, gaining traffic, mobile internet, you name it, they’ll discuss it.
So once I again I would like to encourage everyone to join in the fun. Nominate sites in the DigitalFilipino Web Awards 2009 by logging in to the http://digitalfilipinocom.ning.com/ and sending in your nominations. Apart from just encouraging you guys to join, I’m gonna share three sites which I believe, deserve to be nominated.
1.The Velez Times (Schools, Colleges and Universities Category)
The Velez Times was first created somewhere December 2008. It was created by a Medical Technology Student for his College: Cebu Velez College. Cebu Velez College is one of the most popular schools in terms of courses in the field of medicine. However, Velez College never had an online portal for other people to see what’s in this school.
The Velez Times is a first in Cebu Velez College as it is an attempt to bring Cebu Velez College into the online world.
2. Yoshke (Personal Blog Category)
One of my most favorite blogs when it comes to humor, love, social issues, and personal experiences. Yoshke knows how to capture the attention and hearts of his audience as they are slowly drawn to his beautiful writing. If you would take time to read at least one of his posts, you will find yourself clicking around for more. Then soon, you will find it difficult to go away from his site.
3.Velezster (social Networking Category)
Friendster, Multiply, Facebook, MySpace, Flickr, and Tagged. With the tremendous growth of social networking, more and more Filipinos crowd the net with their online accounts and personal information. But who would have thought it would stop at strangers alone? Now, even Schools are into Social Networking.
Velezster.com was started by a Nursing student who hoped to develop a strong online community amongst his fellow Velezians of Cebu Velez College. Now, he has successfully launched Velezster and is continuously growing as the School embraced it as the first ever, Social Networking Site for Cebu Velez College.
I like this site in the sense that students break the barriers of communication such as shyness and hesitance to approach their “ate’s” and “kuya’s” of the higher years. This social networking site has given a good deal of help to the Freshies of Velez College.
And so there you have it with my nominations for the Digital Filipino Web Awards. Where’s yours?
