Globe Tattoo Cebu: Staying Connected

Globe Tattoo Cebu

Globe Tattoo Cebu

One of my wishlist objects for 2009 was a mobile broadband. On the night of the Philippine Blog Awards 2009, Globe surprised me by choosing me to be one of the 10 Globe tribal winners of Visayas and therefore fulfilling one of my wishlist: a Globe Tattoo Broadband Kit.

I was delighted to see that Globe Tattoo in Cebu is quite impressive. Falling under HSDPA speed, the internet experience I had with it was indeed satisfactory. But being the Tsinoy that I am, I am very selective on when do I use this mobile broadband. Priced at 5php per minute I find it already worth it. It’s like paying for an internet Cafe without the pain of Viruses, spywares, and a non-personal feel of a computer.

For others who are still new to this Globe Tattoo here are a few things I’ve learned which can help in your internet experience:

  • If you do not wish to pay by the kilobyte then set your GT in TIME mode. Do this by sending TIME to 1111.
  • Set your connection to 3G only. You can do this by going to your Tools, Network, and Network Type.
  • Do not immediately connect. Always check your signal at the lower left portion of the Mobile Broadband window and see if the signal is good. Most desired is the HSDPA. If your signal is merely GPRS then it will be frustrating. EDGE is okay but not as fast HSDPA
  • When already connected always be wary of your time usage. They count by the 15 minute (5php per 15minutes). If you go beyond the 15 minute mark even without using up the whole new 15 minutes they will still charge full. So 5 minutes before the time ends or when you want it to end make sure you closed all your windows or settled all your activities online.
  • As I mentioned above I strongly suggest using per 15 minutes charging than the per kilobyte charging because most of the websites or services online use up a lot of memory.  So I strongly suggest using TIME mode.

The Kit I have is quite a nice design because my netbook, mouse, and external HDD are white so it matches perfectly. But of course there are a variety of Globe Tattoo Broadband New Skins to choose from.

And while you are at it you can check out Globe Tattoo Broadband Gallery for a lot of cool stuff that you can find.

Hi aimee, try to check the quality of connection for your service area. Brand these days can’t be trusted. I suggest you ask your friends who have tried using service from the different networks. :)

  4. Technologian says:

SmartBro is also good, so far… It depends on the signal proximity…

  5. The Photoblogger says:

Nindot man ang Globe diri Aim. Im enjoying it gyud. Although not all areas are perfect. Some areas don’t have a good signal.

  6. The Photoblogger says:

I agree. It strongly depends on the signal proximity.

Nice to hear a good review on Globe Tattoo! Honestly I’ve been hearing bad things about it here in Manila, this is why I got the Ateneo limited edition one FOR FREE TOO! XD haha check my blog post about it XD haha. Haven’t used it yet though. it’s really for emergency purposes.

I’m still a globe girl! haha it took me quite an adventure to get this free smartbro though. hehe

Globe tattoo, better than smart bro.

  11. Wow they charge per minute? Over here, we just pay a monthly fee with some data limitation like 30GB or so.

  12. The Photoblogger says:

well we can pay monthly for unlimited internet, like somewhere 899php or about 70 Sg$. But I doubt I can use that much internet when there is free wifi everywhere. I only use this in emergency situations. besides, 0.15 cents (in Sg$) per 5 minutes is already cheap here. :)

  13. Communicator says:

Globe Tattoo plug it is now 895 & suggestions and speeds reviews, open line to use on all services, where to buy antenna, how to unlock Globe has an unlimited plan now for P2000 and a day plan for P20 limited surfing

Is it much better than wifi?

  15. The Photoblogger says:

  16. kyla says:

I have friends in cebu. Pag kausap ko sila lageng nadidisconnect. And thay’re blaming globe for subscribing to it. So might as well, think about it.

  17. The Photoblogger says:

well that depends na. personally Ive used it sa malls like Ayala lalo na when I dont have free wifi connection. And I’ve only been disconnected once when in the hospital at wala masyadong signal.
