1 Peso Coin
I took this shot of my collection of “fake” one peso coins. That’s right people. I once saw in the news in TV where they showed a bunch of coins being magnetized to show how fake they really are. Real one peso coins are not attracted to magnets. In fact, the value of one real one peso coin is higher than it’s declared value which is one peso.
So come to think of it, how did they go about with payments before? Way before the production of these coins, we had the authentic gold coins made of, you guessed it,
price of gold.
So how can you tell if a gold coin is really a gold coin? Merchants before would use weighing scales and even up till now they do. This is to determine the
gold price. We also have other chemical means of determining their authenticity. And you also have the “chewing” way of determining because gold is rather soft.

Stack of coins
Do you think you have a soft spot for the
gold spot? I know I probably would. But one must always remember, not all that glitters is real, and not all that is shiny is real.
