Saved up for the Summer and More

July 2nd, 2011 by The Photoblogger

Summer is finally here. Though there are those who celebrate on the idea of a school-free summer, there are those whose allowance depends on the number of school days. Once school’s out, my allowance is also out.

So over the school year I’ve built up my own savings. (hehe) This way I got some cash to spend over the summer. Thankfully apart from keeping my money in a bank account I also kept my money online. This way without the money in my wallet I don’t spend too much over other stuff.

But maybe storing my money online isn’t such a good idea considering how much online deals are there. Like for example, group buying in Buyanihan.com.

Then there is the online gadget store, gosh, now that’s something I can’t resist. I’ll be honest and say that I do see some gadgets 30-40% cheaper online as compared to the shelves in the malls. Thankfully there are sites like Savings.com that help me spend my money wisely.

Not only can you save through those online coupons, one can also get great savings my taking the initiative of using discounts. Doing so can almost always make you spend cheaper than what the price is listed on the price tag.

Lastly saving can be as simple as saying NO to that impulse buying that just springs inside you. That alone can save you big money!

So while you’re at it why don’t you invest in short selling penny stocks. I’m sure Timothy Sykes got a thing or two to teach you about earning up for the future.

So good luck to you guys who are saving for the summer to come :P Have a great summer ahead!

Piso as locals refer to it

Back then I remember keeping a stack of fake (or so I thought they were fake) one peso coins. I guess my observation in one news feature was that the police were scanning around these pile of coins where the fake ones would get attracted to their magnet device thingy.
It was then my common assumption that the genuine one peso coins are non magnetic and thus would not get attached to magnets. The interesting thing about these genuine one peso coins (with regards to its cost of production) is that it is actually higher than its labeled value which is of course: one peso. Dinner at the Ranch then Coffee at Cafe Firenzo

Group picture after all the mind games and dinner

First of all I have to say BIG BIG Thank you to San Miguel Brewery for this wonderful fellowship dinner with the other bloggers who participated in the Davao Food Appreciation Tour 2011. It was indeed a wonderful and worthwhile way to officially start my first night in the DFAT 2011.

Feast all you can

My first dinner for the DFAT 2011 was in The Ranch where we had a very delicious buffet. When it comes to sushi I normally avoid Tuna because of the weird after taste that sticks in my mouth. However the Tuna that I ate in “The Ranch” buffet was exceptional. It was very fresh and taste was pleasant with no weird aftertaste. Did I mention that the ranch also offered a variety of food such as grilled meat and such?

Bonding with the Bloggers

Dinner was delicious but I guess what would make me smile when thinking about my first night for the DFAT 2011 was a good part of the night was spent on playing Mind games. Ate Ria and Kuya Orman were really hilarious when they did the Black magic, and then Robbie did the Johnny johnny… and I did the Chinese math. Ate Leah’s expression was just priceless!

Coffee in Cafe Firenzo

Cafe Firenzo!!

Then we headed over to Cafe Firenzo to have some coffee (San Miguel Brewery, thanks for this too! You guys are awesome!) It was there that the camwhoric beahviour of Bloggers started to show. The photoshoot was basically led by the creative dork who hogged all angles and every pixel of the image claiming it to be his domain. Robbie, you camwhore, and boy was I to find out later that he was THE MOST camwhoric blogger I’ve ever met. Yes, he has more photos in my camera than I have of myself EVEN IF I BOUGHT A TRIPOD AND REMOTE. Tsk tsk, I dunno how you do it Robbie.

Being a photoblogger I believe I’ll just let the pictures do the talking.

Samal Paradise Island Beach Resort

Samal Island Paradise Resort

And I finally stepped on Samal Island Paradise Resort

One of my fond memories of Davao is the beautiful Island of Samal. It had a small beach resort: Paradise Island Beach resort. We still had to ride a boat going to the Island but it wasn’t too far. When we got there I got sight of the cute beach front. It wasn’t really big but it was enough to allow people to swim around. Read the rest of this entry »

Ranchero

Ranchero Ribs

Ranchero

If I could associate one word with Ranchero it’s definitely Ribs. The Ribs in this restaurant is absolutely delicious! You can’t go wrong with Ranchero ribs with its soft texture and it’s well balanced taste. I don’t like ribs that don’t taste like ribs at all. The ribs in Ranchero is wonderful, I didn’t even mind eating it without the sauce. Just eating it alone was already good enough for me. Read the rest of this entry »

Davao Dream Adventure!

Davao Adventure Bloggers!

If one may ask “what to do in Davao” I would normally answer: Eat Durian OR see the Philippine Eagle.

After a wonderful trip thanks to Airphil Express I have definitely more than just those two answers above. But for today’s post I’m gonna talk about the one thing I will continually rave about in Davao every time I’m asked why I love Davao.

DAVAO EXTREME ADVENTURE

One beautiful weekend I was asked to fly to Davao for a so-called “adventure” package. After not having flown anywhere for more than a year I was already very excited just thinking about the flight itself. Yep, I love to fly no matter where I go. Flying in itself is an inevitably enjoyable experience. What made it even more exciting was that I was flying to Davao for the first time and to add to many firsts: FIRST TIME TO FLY TO MINDANAO.
