Seattle’s Best Java Chip Javakula

March 13th, 2010 by The Photoblogger

I mentioned before that I had an alone time session in Ayala terracesĀ Seattle’s Best Coffee.

I also mentioned that the next time I return to Ayala’s Seattle’s Best Coffee I’ll be ordering a cool drink instead of a meal.

So I ordered a Large Java Chip Javakula. I enjoyed the nice cream topped on the drink with a generous serving of chocolate chips on top of it. The drink was refreshing and energizing. I went through my blog tasks pretty fast and I made good use of the two hours of free internet. For 170php I kind of find it expensive. Maybe I should consider doing my blogs in Starbucks next time. I’m just not too sure if they have an outlet of some sort.

What I do like about SB is the ambiance. I think this is the second time I’m mentioning about the ambiance. The only problem is, I still think that the large order was too “large” for me. I think next time I should order only small because I kinda stopped enjoying it when I felt like I had too much.

Overall I’ll give SB an 8 out of 10 for their drinks. I’m thinking of trying out their current special, the raspberry thingy. Oh well, till next time.

Online School

I’m impressed with how education is actually changing over the years.

I can recall how we used to do things when we were kids. There was no internet then. There were no Wikipedia pages or search engines readily available. So we stuck to our hard bound encyclopedias and textbooks.

Now we have information readily available online.

Students looking for topics online related to Algebra 1, or looking for Algebra 1 help. I believe in our generation Math has always been a very tiresome subject and often times frustrating. So meaning it would even be more difficult if we had Algebra 1 problems. But do not fret because for every problem there is a possible solution (as in math) so there are Algebra 1 answers readily available in Tutor Vista.

But learning does not stop in your basic Algebra. You will need to move on to an even more complex form which is the Algebra 2. Get easily Algebra 2 help just be getting in tutorvista and signing up. Get your sample problems or your practice Algebra 2 problems online and don’t be left hanging. You can also have your Algebra 2 answers readily found online in Tutorvista.

Death By Chocolate in Casa Verde

March 11th, 2010 by The Photoblogger

Die with Chocolate!!!

Casa Verde Death by Chocolate has gained popularity among chocolate or ice cream lovers in and out of Cebu.

The Death by Chocolate is actually some sort of Ice cream cake which is served in a plate and slowly to be scooped away by the suicidal eater.

This Death by Chocolate dessert deserved a single post as this happens to be one of those guilty pleasures which I don’t get to experience all the time. So if you’re looking for a way to drown your depression from a break up or just interested in enjoying a nice cool Death by Chocolate then head over to Casa Verde for this sweet treat. It’s priced somewhere 100 to 150php.

Manna Sutukil in Mactan

Fresh fish selection, really big Lapu lapu fishes

I made a previous post about Sutukil in Mactan Cebu and as promised I am now going to give my review about Manna Sutukil.

An aquarium to store some fishes, truly fresh for serving

We were actually together with mom’s friend: Tita Ara Ramiro and her family. One thing I like about Manna Sutukil is that they actually had an air conditioned room. (but no need for such during the night because of the cool sea breeze)

Live Lobsters

The choices were nice because they had all kinds of fish you could choose from. They even had lobsters and a giant clam. We then went for the usual shrimps, scallops, parrot fish and Lapu lapu.

Manna Sutukil Logo

To get to the place one just needs to enter the sutukil area and got to the corner to the right. You will see a Marlin logo and of course the sign that says Manna Sutukil.

The place

The restaurant interior had a very Pinoy look, nothing fancy but not too simple either.

Then we have the large selection of food to choose from. Not all Sutukil restaurants are the same. I feel that this certain Sutukil restaurant is a tad bit more expensive than the others. We actually saw some frustrated foreigners talking to the store keeper.

Apart from the fishes, you also have a selection of shells

This time we didn’t order the Giant Clam anymore. We found it quite expensive and not really satisfying.

The plates were actually more stylish than No Problem Sutukil. The plates were flat baskets topped with a banana leaf to add to the Pinoy ambiance of the place.

Finally the food was served and I guess I did enjoy it a lot since the kids were not really as hungry as I was.

Baked Scallops

fried shrimp with sweet sauce

Fried Shrimp

Grilled Bangus

Clam soup

Personally I enjoyed the food because I wasn’t paying for it. (Thank you Lord for a dad) Dad paid for it and was actually shocked with the price. For the quality of food (which was not super good but just okay) it was quite expensive.

I would give this a 7 out of 10 because of the price. The good points would be the air conditioned room, not too crowded, and wide variety of choices even at night.

Mountain Adventure in Cantipla Stream

March 9th, 2010 by The Photoblogger

The long trek from the Valley to the top

Somewhere 20 kilometers away from the city is a small village of Cantipla where life is simple and vegetables are only 15php per kilo.

Following the dirt road

Last Sunday I had the opportunity along with my classmates in Cebu Velez College Biology department, to go to Cantipla Stream. The original plan was actually to go to my uncle raul’s farm somewhere near Tabunan Forest but we were misled and therefore went all the way to the Cantipla stream.

The students eating lunch, taga-bukid style

We were there for studies in Ecology and specimen collection for our General entomology class.

I really enjoyed the experience as we were hiking our way to the place and it just released a part of me that I didn’t know I had.

I was so used to the city life of cars, electricity, internet and all that, that I forgot the joy of just going through life slowly and peacefully. When you are there you just forget everything about deadlines, meetings, works and stuff. You are filled with a sense of peace and harmony with the environment.

I particularly enjoyed the cool stream of water as I dipped my feet into it. My only regret was I forgot to take a picture of the stream was I was really enjoying the place.

We then headed home and we had to push the car because it lacked some LPG. That was the first time in my life that I also got dragged by the car when it started to run. lol.

Someday, if my time permits, I want to go back there and just have some kind of self retreat. The place is really refreshing. You could feel the stress just disappear from your body.

Casa Verde I.T. Park

March 8th, 2010 by The Photoblogger

Casa Verde Logo

I.T. park in Lahug is known for its many call centers and was actually once a place where I used to play with my kite and ride around with my tricylce. Now it is filled with joggers, lovers, and call center agents enjoying the beautiful place.

Quite a comfortable table for 4

It is also known for its several affordable restaurants there and amongst these is the famous Casa Verde I.T. Park Branch originally in Ramos.

Casa Verde is quite popular among Koreans which I believe is because of their affordable dishes and a very nice ambiance. The interior of Casa Verde IT park has a touch of American culture in it which reminds me a lot of TGIF (minus the heavy price).

a huge meal of beef and prawns for 200+php

With 600+php you can have a full heavy meal for two with bottomless drinks. Since the place has lots of wifi you may try leeching off from other stores (since the last time I was there I did not get any wifi signal though).

one of my favorites: the Potato skin

I accompanied a friend as we ordered one meal each and we were actually expecting only a small serving but we were quite surprised by the large serving. Now that is what I call a man’s meal.

For chicken lovers you are in for a treat with their chicken with white sauce for only 200+php

The meals served are actually served with buttered vegetables on the side. Before I used to dislike the service of Casa Verde because it usually takes them 20 to 30 minutes to serve food. (but that was in ramos) Now I’m actually satisfied with their speed of service.

Cute Ceiling Design

We also had bottomless drinks as they serve two kinds of Iced Tea, but you can always opt for the pitcher serving of lemonade.

All in all I’d give this place an 8.5 over 10 for their consistency of their service and food quality. (but lacking in wow factor, it seems a lot like TGIF, they need some originality) I like Casa Verde and if you’re dropping in Cebu I’d willingly suggest it to any food lover.
