Sinulog Kabataan 2009

One of the requirements for our PE is to watch the Sinulog Kabataan. So rushing from Busay, I run over to Abellana, purchase the 30 php ticket, which I find totally worth it. And then I seat myself in the upper left portion equipped with my AHD 300 on my tripod and my EOS 400D using 90-300mm USM lens.

I was there for about an hour and a half until the program started. When it did start I was impressed. Although the Doxology singer lacked a partner for the voicing in “The Prayer” her excellent vibratto and belting voice, and also lacked instrumentals. The march of the Philippine Flags was also a sight to behold especially when the wind blew the right direction.

The primary level featured 9 contingents while the secondary, I forgot since I didn’t stay for the last few contingents.

Here were a few things I noticed about the whole set up.

1.With a telephoto lens, shooting is great from a high angle.
2. I need a higher Tripod when shooting with my AHD 300
3.My AHD 300 did a great job shooting a video, especially since AHD 300 is only 9995 php. HD quality
4.Vendors are very irritating when shooting! They pass by when the video is on going. And they carry their merchandise real high so they get included in the video!
5.Someone considered the lighting for the activity because the stage was strategically located where the light was best shown on the dancers.
6.It is best to come early so you can test shot some things.
7.DO NOT change lens in between dances. Do it at home.
8.It is extremely tiring to shoot at the same time observe my HD cam for any lighting changes.
9.Suggested exposure for Video Settings: +1 at 30fps, and exposure can change at a mere shift of camera’s angle (for HD cam)
10.It is difficult for HD cams to have controlled exposure because you can only change your exposure before the shoot.
11.My AHD 300 cannot cope up with loud noises, any suggestion to mute it?
